Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch: Be an Instant Spy [Features, Price, and Release Date]
After so many weeks of rumors, it’s finally here, in the flesh. The Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch was announced at IFA in Berlin just moments ago. Samsung has outdid themselves this year, yet again.
Maybe you are wonderin’ what’s this fuss is all about. Well, as you know, I have a SmartWatch by Sony. I also did a review about the device. But this SmartWatch from Samsung is an absolute treat. Why? Because it has a speakerphone bulit-in the device and two noise cancelling microphones. Yes, my friends, you can do this now:
But that’s not all, it has a built in 1.9 Megapixel Camera which can take 10-second HD videos and take pictures as well. The screen has a 1.63 Super AMOLED display and has the resolution of 320 by 320 pixels. You can also install up to 10 application on this. But what about the battery? According to Samsung, it can last a full day with “normal” usage. What normal means to them is beyond me. And the watch is quite big, and I think that the size will bother some people but it’s a Smartwatch, so I think that the size does not matter at all. Then again, the device looks cool. As for being waterproof, no information is revealed just yet.
To charge the device, all you have to do is put it on a “charger casing” and plug the micro usb casing on it. It charges for around 60 to 90 minutes.
According to Sammy, the retail price would be about $300 or around 13,500 Philippine pesos minus the taxes. You can expect that the device will sell for around PhP 15,000 pesos around here. It’s quite expensive for most people, I know but it’s one good looking watch.
The Galaxy Gear will be launched on 149 countries by September 25, 2013 and will be available worldwide in October. I think it will be in the Philippines by October.
Now, will Apple launch a Smartwatch too? We’ll see this September 10.
