Arc Mobile Philippine Androids: Spreading the Android Love [Quad-core Android at 6,000 Pesos]

On a recent Metro Manila Launch, Arc Mobile was introduced. And guess what? They are in the Philippines with an agressive pricing scheme! We’ve already got Cherry Mobile, Star Mobile, and Torque battling it out in the Affordadroid arena but little do they they know that Arc Mobile is just in the sidelines waiting to pounce.

Introducing Arc Mobile Prime 350, Nitro 400D, Nitro 500D, Nitro 450QD, and Tab 700M.

So let’s begin at the entry level and work our way from the top. First on the list is the Arc Mobile Prime 350 which is the entry-level Android.

Initial Review
At first glace, it would be dissapointing since we are currently at Android OS 4.2.2. But as you can see, the battery and the price will make up for it. Having a 2000mAh battery can even bring you up to two days without charging depending on the usage. Having an estimated price of around PhP 2,600.00 is competitive in its own right.

Next on the list is the Arc Mobile Nitro 400D

Camera (back): 5.0 MP
Dual-Sim: YES

Battery: 1450 mAh

Price: PhP 3,999.00

Initial Review
It’s amazing that they have brought Jellybean to the masses. Having a 4k pesos Jellybean device would sure attract potential buyers. However, I am skeptic to the battery that they have used. 1,450 mAh of battery seems to be not enough for a whole day of operation especially when you get the Mobile internet turned on and you start browsing. But at the price point, I think it’s definitely worth the try.

Next on the list is its big brother, the Arc Mobile Nitro 500D.

Specs:

OS: Android 4.1.2 Jellybean
CPU: 1 GHz (MediaTek) MT6577 Dual Core

4G: No
3G: Yes
2G/Edge/GPRS: Yes
External SD: Yes
Screensize: 5.0″ HVGA
Camera (front): 1.3 MP
Camera (back): 5.0 MP with BSI Sensor
Dual-Sim: YES
WIFI: Yes
TV: No
Battery: 2000 mAh

Price: PhP 5,299 (around that price)

Initial Review
This is the big brother of the Nitro 400D. Almost everything is the same in terms of specs except for the camera, screen size, and battery. Even though it is also equipped with a 5.0 MP snapper, it has a BSI Sensor (Backside Illumination Sensor) which would improve photos in low-light conditions. The increased battery is a welcome addition too. What I didn’t like was the RAM size, same with the Nitro 400D, which was quite small and can cause phone stuttering. But then again, at an agressive price of around 5k pesos, this device is quite the steal. The device not yet available on the market but it will be on the last week of May 2013.

Enter, Arc Mobile Nitro 450QD

Specs:

3G: Yes
2G/Edge/GPRS: Yes
External SD: Yes
Screensize: 4.5″ qHD
Camera (front): 0.3 MP
Camera (back): 5.0 MP
Dual-Sim: YES
WIFI: Yes
TV: No
Battery: 1800 mAh

Price: PhP 6,200 (around that price)

Initial Review
Wow. A quad-core phone for around 6 thousand pesos is a welcome addition to the growing list of Affordadroids. It has a good processor and a nice GPU to boot. But I am skeptic to how long this device will last as the battery is just around 1,800 mAh which is quite low for a quad-core device. The RAM is only 512MB as well which makes this one of the candidates for stuttering in app switching. But I guess you have to sacrifice some other things to keep it at a low price point. The device has not been launched yet but they have already made estimates to the price. It will retail early this June.

Finally, let’s move to the large-screened device. The Arc Mobile Tab 700M.

Specs:

OS: Android 4..0.4 ICS
CPU: 1.0 GHz (MediaTek) MT6515 Single Core
GPU: PowerVR SGX531
RAM: 512MB
ROM: 4GB
4G: No
3G: No
2G/Edge/GPRS: Yes
External SD: Yes
Screensize: 7″ WGA
Camera (front): 0.3 MP
Camera (back): 2.0 MP
Dual-Sim: YES
WIFI: Yes
TV: Yes
Battery: 3,000 mAh

Price: PhP 3,999.00

Initial Review
Priced like the Nitro 400D, the Tab 700M is nowhere near the specs. But with the enlarged screen it can be your very own e-book reader. If you will be using it for games, it can handle it but the graphics will not be as pleasant due to the 800 by 480 pixel resolution of the device. With the battery, you can still enjoy browsing for several hours. However, if you are into heavy browsing in WiFi, expect the device to power down earlier in the evening (granting you unplugged it at 8am). The device is available now to Arc Mobile retailers.

Arc Mobile products are available in the following retailers: Memo Xpress, Technomobile, BSD International, Sandztel, SDL, CyberWidget, Mobilizer, IntoGadgets, MMR Dynamic, MediaBox, M2 Mobile, Eazy Text, 5th Avenue, Inbox Mobile, GSN Wireless, Telefonetics, and at Lazada Philippines.

Davao Retailers: Memo Xpress (SM Lanang, SM Davao Annex, and Abreeza Mall), CyberWidget (SM Lanang), and Lazada Philippines (delivery)
